Brass Bands played an important role during the Civil War providing martial music for dress parades, serenades for officers and music of home for the troops. Music recorded by the Federal City Brass Band, one of the top Civil War bands in the US today. Tunes include Bonnie Blue Flag Dixie and Battle Hymn of the Republic. Slide Show I made to introduce the Civil War–made some interesting interpretations in order to stimulate interest in 11th grade US History students–I know the flaws–I have a Master’s in US Civil War history…sorry, but I’m a sentimental CW historian like Shelby Foote, Bruce Catton, Steve Sears, Steve B. Oates, and Doris Goodwin…PS BUY LAND OF LINCOLN by Andrew Ferguson! It is Great!
