For nearly a thousand years, people have been inspired and entertained by stories, poems, songs, paintings and tapestries about King Arthur, who has become the subject of one of the largest bodies of literature in the world. However, physical evidence has been so lacking as to appear systematically obliterated over the centuries. Even so, an abundance of truths has preserved in books, and more recently in films, of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and the Holy Grail.

Mead’s Trek Written by Tom Gauthier
Mead’s Trek is the story of a group led by Major Amos Mead of the United States Marines into territory both friendly and hostile during WWII mostly in 1943. Much of the trek began with meetings in Hawaii that led to travels by Mead’s thrown together group to Thailand, Vietnam, China, Burma, Australia, with much direction from Washington, DC. Some of the group was CIA, some in various military services, one in British Intelligence, some OSS (Office of Strategic Services) but all specialists in their field.

The Burning Desire to Win in “Think and Grow Rich”
There is just no way around the fact that if you truly want something, then you will work tirelessly in order to get that which you desire. You simply can’t be lazy about your dreams and making sure that you turn them into a reality. Actively and passionately pursuing your dreams, with a burning desire, is what will separate you from simply being a person who wishes for x, y or z. In short, when you have a burning desire to win, the odds of success obviously are greatly improved.

It is a remarkable example in emphasizing how to sustain a narrative voice when history is a big part of the memoir. Fascinating and heartbreaking are the first two words that come to mind after reading Ann Seymour’s beautiful tribute to her family, especially her father, as well as all those who served in WW2.

Resistance Written by Anita Shreve
Resistance refers to the civilians throughout Europe, in particular Belgium, who helped downed fliers disregarding their own safety and discovery by the Germans and others that were German sympathizers. These brave rescuers would hide these men in their homes, usually a hidden room in their homes or barns, get the usually needed medical help, feed and clothe them, and try to keep their “roomers” to themselves and a very few trusted that were part of the resistance network. Many allied pilots and crew members stayed alive only because of the actions of these brave souls.

In the novel King’s Shadow by Elizabeth Alder, Evyn the main character gets his tongue cut off which lead to a series of horrible, unfortunate events that are full of excitement, adventure, betrayal, and death. People can find all these things in the novel and more and that is why people should definitely read it!
